Day 3 - May 31, 2012


i slept so well last night... still didn't want to get out of bed.. because the sleep was that good :) been a long time since i had really restful, undisturbed sleep :)



i cheated a bit and weighed myself this morning right after i used the restroom.. and it said 218... no way... i must have been full when i did the initial weight or something because there is no way i lost 8 pounds in barely 3 days... is there? of course the initial weight was the night before starting the challenge, and this was in the morning of day 3, after peeing a bucket.. lol.. but even if it is just water... yay!!!!!!



wake up- down a glass if the Fiber Drink... still yucky, but not as bad as the first day.... i was actually able to chug every bit of it before i got in the shower today... yay me!!! now no more till day 8 i think.. woohoo!!!



on the way to work- continued drinking the bottle of water i started after my shower.. took 2 Omegaplex and had a banana... it was yummy today.. i didn't have to force it down.. and it was the perfect amount to have :)



10am - snack! decided on an apple today... easy to eat at my desk and just enough to satisfy :) i also decided to drink a Spark and it occurred to me that i really really like the Spark... it reminds me of Tang, which i LOVED as a child... ahh the memories.... i could drink a few of these a day if i didn't fear I’d be bouncing off the walls.. lol



i am sitting here at my desk trying to think of ways i can start exercising since i have more energy already... but i am so busy during the day and have so much to do when i get home, where is the time? i think i will make a plan to take my daughter for a walk on Saturday... perhaps even a jog if this energy level keeps up.. just have to talk my body into it since jogging and fatness do not really mix without a little pain.. (think Shamu on concrete) but i think i will try at least :) and i am writing it here to make it a commitment.. hold me to it, won't you?



noon: lunch... my husband took me to Groucho's Deli for lunch today... and while his Pastrami on Rye looked REALLY good.. i stayed with the Cleanse plan and had a grilled chicken salad... and again i immediately put half of it in a to-go box because it was soo big.... and i even used the tiniest amount of salad dressing... like 1/4 teaspoon, if that... helped that the offered dressing was NOT my favorite so i only needed enough to make the lettuce not so dry.. and water to drink of course.....

i am full after that.. and so proud of myself :)





oh.. and this will be TMI.. a LOT TMI... so stop reading this paragraph if you're at all queasy reading about bodily functions.............................. but when i was talking to my coach before even starting this challenge, he was explaining what the purpose of all the elements of the challenge are.. he mentioned that the Omegaplex pills are basically Fish oil and will make the poop come out easier as the cleanse cleans out your intestines..... he said you'll go to the bathroom and be amazed that it comes out so easy.. you'll be like "what? done already?".... well... i had that experience this morning... i have never pooped so easy in my life.... TMI i know, but proves the Omegaplex does its job :) now i can only hope the rest of this challenge works so well and i can start losing pounds and inches like i hope i will..... and if it takes pooping out my intestinal lining every day, I’ll do it! :)

will be interesting this afternoon.... my husband is taking me to the movies after work.... so i will have to figure out what i can safely eat to keep within the confines of this challenge... since we will be in the movies during my normal dinner and snack times....... i have been good so far...



3pm - snack.. well i missed this one by about 2 hours... was in an interview that lasted for-e-ver... so at about 4:45 i grabbed my snack of nuts... at least it wasn't much so hopefully it won't throw off my routine much... i was smart and took a bottle of water into the interview with me.. thank goodness because i was thirsty.......



i was very surprised at myself just now... when i got out of the meeting i went back to my desk and checked my email... one of my coworkers asked for an item i had at my desk which she could not leave her desk to come get..... so instead of emailing her back to come get it tomorrow... i got off my butt and walked over to her office to give it to her...... last week, i would not have done that... i would have been too lazy to walk over there... but now... i have so much energy and i actually want to walk instead of sittin in my office on my rear end...... it's fantastic!





5:45pm - Dinner... my husband is taking me to the movies tonight and he wants to eat at Chipotle before... i LOVE Chipotle.... so i tried to do the smart thing and stay as close to this Cleanse as i can..... i bought a chicken burrito.... with only brown rice and chicken... and i took it out of the tortilla (which i was good and only ate one little bite of... and the amount of rice and chicken that was in there was the perfect amount to fill me up.... i figured it was safer than ordering a burrito bowl because that would end up being more food than i needed..... first time i didn't have a veggie with dinner, so i feel weird about that... but i will talk to my coach tonight and find out if it is ok.... i do know the instructions for this plan say to stay within 80% compliance to get the results you want... so i guess that is ok... i didn't have ice cream or anything... lol! and i did remember to take my 2 Omegaplex with dinner too :)



i wanted to make sure i had enough energy to make it through the entire movie, so i took a Slam drink with me... it's a little energy drink in a bottle the size of the 5 Hour Energy.. strawberry flavored and yummy... it did give me a bit of a head rush right after i drank it.. so i don't think I’ll chug it again....



movie started at 6:20 and i was smart enough to bring my other container of nuts in with me so at 9pm i was able to have my evening snack... and i drank a bottle of water through the entire movie......and i was completely happy with that... used to be we would drink a huge Pepsi, or I’d have one of those strawberry Icee's... and a bucket of popcorn and candy..... now my water and nuts were fine... i was surprised....



hehe.. for the first time in my life tho, i did have t leave during the middle of the movie to pee... i couldn't hold it any longer.. lol.. it's all this water i tell ya.... when i left it was a fight scene.. and when i returned they were still fighting so i don't think i missed much... lol



bedtime will be 10:30 ish tonight as soon as i am done with this entry... i am tired and ready to sleep... gotta take the 3 Herbal Cleanse pills before bed.. and i think i will sleep like a baby....



tomorrow the routine changes a bit... no more fiber drink for a few days.. yay!!!! and a new tablet to take at some point... i need to ask my coach about the change......



i can already tell i feel different even from only 3 days of water and fruit and salads and nuts and whatnot... not eating all the crap i did really does make you feel different... better. i guess if you are what you eat, then being produce isn't so bad......

Day 2 - May 30, 2012


Here i am on day 2.. and i noticed something interesting... i woke up with a headache.. not sure why.. but i wonder if it's like withdrawal from the energy the day before... we shall see.



6:45am - wake up.... down a Fiber Drink... was a bit easier to stomach today... still not my favorite thing in the world.. but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.....



on the way to work, drink a bottle of water i started before leaving the house.... take 2 Omegaplex and eat a banana.... interesting that again, i was still full form the fiber drink, so eating the banana was not that easy... but i do what the challenge instructs......



9:30 snack - i decided to eat an orange and a few nuts this morning.... and 1 orange and about 10 peanuts was enough to satisfy me.....



10:15am: drink a Spark energy drink.... i figured I’d drink this a bit later today sine tonight is my long night at work... need as much energy as i can get.... and woooohoooooo i am full of energy... let’s hope it lasts :)... oh.. and after about 10 minutes, my headache i woke up with is gone..... very interesting.



11am: start another bottle of water :) can't get enough water :)



Noon- lunch... we went to Fats Cafe for Cops and Calabash today... and i was a very good girl.. i ordered a grilled chicken salad with dressing on the side.... when it came, i immediately put half of it in a to go box for lunch tomorrow.. and put only the smallest amount of the Fat Free tomato dressing on it... and that filled me up... i was amazed.. that huge salad used to be my appetizer and now i was full after only half of it.....

and of course i had water to drink..... i love that i am actually following this plan! and so far i feel great!



3:15- Snack time! I decided on nuts again today... love pistachios.. and funny enough, i was not even hungry until i looked at the clock and realized it was snack time.... and then i ate the 1/2 cup i brought, and stopped being hungry.... funny how so little really is enough to sate me...



My energy is starting to wane a bit today... possibly because i know tonight i will be at work until at least 8... wednesdays are never fun that way........ wonder if i need to start bringing a 2nd Spark for my long days... or just drink with lunch instead of earlier... will have to try that tomorrow...



i also need to get an adjustment.... my back and neck are out... i cannot wait until i have lose some of this girth and can get adjusted comfortably... hell.. i can't wait until i shed some of the weight that causes me to NEED to be adjusted... even more motivation to follow this plan!



6:15pm - Dinner time!! i am still at work (damn Wednesdays) and all i have is the leftover salad from lunch... luckily i also thought to bring a packet of the Strawberry shake... so i make a meal of salad and shake... after taking 2 Omegplex of course..... and i am now so very full... mixing the shake in with more ice and water than called for makes for a rather large shake.. (i prefer strawberry shakes and milk to be kinda weak, so perfect for me in this instance)... and quite filling too :)

and OMG yum! the strawberry is even better than the Chocolate... too bad i didn't buy a box of the Vanilla to try... now to sip on another bottle of water till it's time to go home.



8:30pm- still at work and decided to snack on some peanuts.. got them out of the vending machine and they are salted.... i think i prefer my unsalted ones better.. didn't need too many to feel sated... getting tired so hope i get to go home soon...



momma called before i left work and asked me to stop and get her some Dairy Queen on my way home.... i went thru the drive thru.. and i bought her and Poppa blizzards.... that's it... nothing else... i am so proud of myself for not indulging :)



10:30pm- bedtime, and i am so ready... downed 3 more of the Herbal Cleanse horse pills... i think i will sleep well tonight :)



having to keep myself from weighing again.. maybe i should hide the scale.......

Day 1 - May 29, 2012

I have finally decided to go on a diet... well, not so much a diet, more of an alteration to my current habits in an effort to improve my overall health and wellbeing.

yeah. something like that.

Here is how i got to this point....

i have been feeling really depressed recently... lazy, uncomfortable in my body, moody, sad, angry at my bad habits and downright unappealing...

i have a friend who had been posting on facebook about this program he is part of that has helped him lose weight and gain energy... and he has recommended it to so many other people who it has also worked for, including his mother... so i figured, why not?

I called him up, he explained the program to me.. and i ordered the 24 Day Challenge... then just had to wait for it to come in the mail....

in the mean time, i volunteered to work a post along the route of a 5k race... i was at station 8, about 2/3 of the way through the course.... i spent 30 minutes watching people run past me, and attempted to cheer them on while feeling horrible about myself for being so fat and out of shape that i couldn't do what they were doing...

when the last runners were passing, i decided to join in and walk/jog the rest of the course... about 1 1/4 mile..... i did it.. but was EXHAUSTED for the rest of the day...... that was it... i needed to change something.

I had received my 24 Day Challenge the day before and decided Tuesday (the day AFTER memorial day) would be the perfect time to start....

and that brings us to day 1..........

The first thing to do is weigh and measure yourself...

how depressing... not only did i find out i am fatter than i thought i was... but my thigh is bigger than Scarlett O'Hara's waist. talk about depressing.

The night before Day 1: (wasn't going to have time in the morning to do it, so decided to get the numbers right before bed)

I weigh 226 pounds
My Measurements are as follows:
Shoulders: 49 IN
Chest: 48 1/2 IN
Waist: 46 1/2 IN
Hips: 53 1/2 IN
Right Arm: 14 IN
Left Arm: 14 IN
Right Thigh: 28 IN
Left Thigh: 28 IN
Right Calf: 16 1/2 IN
Left Calf: 16 1/2 IN

basically i am fat fat fat fat.

and to make myself feel even worse.... i decided to take pictures to have "before and after" shots.....
  


See? fat.. and disgusting... and embarrassing (of course i didn't pick the most flattering clothing on purpose....)



Now onto the 24 day challenge...



The Challenge itself is separated into 2 parts... the 10 Day Cleanse.. and the 14 day Metabolic Nutrition System



Day 1:

wake up at 6:30 - Drink a "Fiber Drink".... my Coach told me this would be like Metamucil and to chug it... yeah right.... it was like trying to force down extremely thick, weak and EXTREMELY pulpy orange juice... took the entire length of my shower to get it all down... but i did it... and it really wasn't that bad...



On the way to work- take 2 Omegaplex pills.. they are like fish oil and are supposed to help clean out your system... drink a bottle of water and eat a banana...... truth be told.. i was still so full from drinking that God Awful Fiber drink.. eating the banana was actually difficult..... i still felt full.



9am- drink a Spark Energy drink..... when my Coach told me the Spark would give me energy.. wow i had no idea... i was of full of pep even my coworkers noticed... i LOVE it! and it tastes great too... this one was Mandarin Orange Flavor.. tasted a bit like Tang :)



10am- Snack - i decided to eat an apple... since i was busy this morning doing timecards, and apple was the easiest thing to eat while standing at the copy machine scanning all 448 timecards... and interestingly enough, i had been a tiny bit hungry when i started the apple.. but was fully sated when i finished it.....

and drinking more water :) (btw.. drinking so much fluid also meant lots more trips to the bathroom.. i have the court scene from Liar Liar in my head when he says you should pee every 2 hours to be healthy.. i am doing more than that.... lol



Noon- Lunch... i decided on a small salad with some tuna and one of the Meal Replacement Shakes.. chocolate... and YUMMY!!!!!! i almost didn't finish the shake because the combination of it and even a small salad was filling... so i nursed the shake over the next hour....

around 130/2pm i started another bottle of water... did i mention the challenge says to drink water between meals? and i have no problem doing it.... just the peeing every 90 minutes is kinda aggravating to my schedule.. lol



3pm- snack- i decided on nuts today... pistachio’s.. YUM!!!! just a handful was all i needed... i was surprised by that....



4pm- started another bottle of water...

got home from work around 5:15.. and by 6 i was ready to make dinner.. which is rare because i usually don't make dinner until 8...



6:30pm- Dinner - i decided on steak and green beans.. tried to make brown rice too but failed miserably... the steak turned out ok... i am not very good at cooking steak because i do not like it at all red... but these were little eye of round's that were pretty thin, so cooling them was pretty easy....

i was simply amazed that 1/2 cup of green beans and less than 4oz of steak actually filled me up... and don't forget the water and 2 Omegaplex i took with it :)



9pm- My daughter was in bed and i was trying to catch up on getting pictures uploaded to my slowass computer, so i had a snack of grapes... about a cup worth.. boy were they yummy.... but again, it didn't take too many to satisfy me.. in the past i would have eaten a huge bowl of them...

i made the mistake of opening the freezer and saw the ice cream i didn't finish last week.. and guess what? i didn't want it...... my first day of this challenge, and i have already noticed my appetite changing.. i think i like this.



bedtime at 11pm- took 3 of the "Herbal Cleanse" tablets before bed... tasted a lot like the prenatal vitamins i used to take.. these were horse pills tho and a bit tough to get down at first.....



11pm- probably the earliest i have gone to bed in months.... interesting observation.

so that was my day.... i did let curiosity get the better of me and weighed myself before i went to sleep.... and it said 222.... how in the world was i already 4 pounds lighter? maybe my intestines were clearing out already? hmmmmmmm......



i think i am going to like this challenge... except the fiber drink of course... but that is only for days 1-3 and 7-10, thank goodness... lol
